SBVIS offers integrative therapies alongside your pet’s conventional diagnostics and care, emphasizing individualized treatment plans, in-home visits, and coordination with your pet’s primary veterinarian.
What We Offer
-
For both overall wellness and the treatment of pain or illness, acupuncture can be a valuable tool. Dr. Conant provides in-home acupuncture services for animals, allowing your pet to receive care in the comfort and familiarity of their own environment.
The initial consultation lasts approximately two hours. This visit includes a review of any relevant prior medical records, a detailed discussion of your pet’s history, current concerns, and treatment goals, as well as a comprehensive physical examination from both a conventional Western and TCVM (Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine) perspective. The first acupuncture treatment is also performed during this appointment.
When indicated, additional modalities such as electroacupuncture, aquapuncture with vitamin B12, and Class I cold laser therapy may be incorporated alongside standard dry needling. Chinese herbal medicine is also frequently recommended to address specific patterns of illness or injury, either in combination with acupuncture or as a complementary therapy.
While some conditions show improvement after a single treatment, most require a series of four or more sessions. Follow-up acupuncture visits typically last about one hour and include a brief assessment prior to each treatment.

To minimize stress for your pet and provide added convenience for you, Dr. Conant can collaborate with your primary care veterinarian or specialist to address specific concerns or perform certain diagnostic tests in the home setting. Our goal is to ensure your pet receives the best possible care in a timely manner, so these visits are often prioritized after direct communication with your regular veterinarian.
Examples of conventional services that can be provided at home include anti-nausea injections, subcutaneous fluid administration, Adequan injections, and blood or urine testing.
Please note that while some tests and procedures can be performed at home, certain diagnostics or treatments may be safer or more efficiently completed in a clinic setting.
-
Use of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) herbal formulas tailored to each pet’s needs to support healing and balance. (Herbal care is featured in the services navigation and discussed in integrative context.)
